Oh NO! My Visual Editor’s Missing!
You upgraded to WordPress 2.8 because it’s the right thing to do, and now your Visual editor’s gone kablooey?
Yeah I had that problem, too. It stinks when an upgrade screws up like that but here are two things you can do to fix it.
1. Clear your browser cache and reload WP-Admin.
In Firefox, go to Tools > Clear Private Data

in Safari, click on Safari > Empty Cache

in IE, click on Tools > Internet Options, click the “Delete” button under the “Browsing History” area. Then click that “Delete Files” button for each of the following options: Temporary Internet Files, Cookies & History. (because I’m really a snob and can’t be bothered with Microsoft IE for ANYTHING, I don’t have a screen shot. I’ll dig one up later)
Reload your WordPress admin page & check if your visual editor’s back.
If this doesn’t work, proceed to item # 2.
2. Re-Install WP 2.8
First, deactivate all your Plugins. Do this by going to your Plugins page, clicking the handy little select-all checkbox.

Then select “Deactivate” from the “Bulk Actions” drop-down & hit the “Apply” button.

Go to Tools > Upgrade in the WP-Admin menu on the left.

Hit the button labeled “Re-Install Automatically.” When the screen says it’s done, reload your admin, re-activate your plugins and check out your Visual editor.

This worked on all of the blogs (I have at least 4 – or 5…) that I upgraded the other day.
