Dealing with Info Product Overwhelm

2009 July 20

This is something that’s been on my mind since May. It’s a little different than what’s on this site right now, but since a lot of my clients are small business owners (in fact, all of them are…) I think this is some good information to have here:

Listen!

So here’s what’s in the audio if you prefer to read instead of listen:

There are TONS of e-products, e-courses & e-books out there, so much that it’s insane trying to figure out what’s going to be worth the money you spend on it.

Do NOT be suckered.

Please? If you’re like me. Money’s a bit tight and everything I spend has to go towards something that will give me the most value. So how do you determine if something’s worth your time and money?

Don’t buy into the “limited time offer” stuff.

So what if there are ONLY 3 SPOTS LEFT. If this will help you, you can always get in on their relaunch.

So here’s what you should do first – before plunking down any cash on anything (including my stuff!):

Do some soul-searching.

Figure out who you are, who you want to be, discover your values and your learning style.

Identify the people you want to help, the business style you want to have and the time you have to invest.

THEN and only then…

Start looking for your teachers.

Notice I didn’t say go buy stuff. Just start by finding your teachers.

Follow their blogs, sign up for their email lists & get their free products. Study their style, absorb everything they have to offer you free of charge.

Study how they use their email list.

Verify that their values are similar to yours and their style and way of doing business aligns with your values.

And when you find someone who speaks to you, who seems like they would offer you more than any one else out there, THEN buy their products.

I promise you will save money and get the most out of whatever you buy (if you even need to buy anything after going through all these steps!).
