About

Alexia Petrakos. Looking Pensive... and off to the left.Hi. I’m Alexia & I’m the WPChick. WP is short for WordPress.

But I’m more than just a geek.

See, I value creativity a lot.

Approaching life from a different angle than most — that is, being self-employed — has a huge set of challenges but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I get to stretch my creative muscles every day (and never have to wear pantyhose…).

That’s something I couldn’t do working for someone else.

Every day I get to explore what I like to do and figure out how to make my interests what I do for a living.

That’s pretty freakin’ cool.

I definitely don’t have it all figured out but I’m a self-professed self-improvement junkie. I’m sure all the books I’ve read are going to kick in any second now…

I also blog at AlexiaPetrakos.com, sell stuff I make at I Make ARRRT!, and teach bookbinding & visual journaling at various places around town.

And if you’re wondering what I’ve done in the past, here’s a quick run-down of a few of my related past lives:

  1. Web Developer at a web consulting firm that did work for Turner Broadcasting (Cartoon Network, Nascar, CNN)
  2. User Interface Developer at Prudential Financial
  3. Computers Expert/writer at eHow.com

I fell in love with WordPress in 2005 and use it almost exclusively for all the web sites I build and maintain.

WPChick was born after 2 of my twitter friends asked me for help on their WordPress sites. I discovered I actually LIKED talking people through their WordPress woes & worries and figured since it’s something I liked, why not do it?

So here I am. Ready to help.
